Religious Instruction at Wilsonton State School is delivered to children in Years 1 to 6 via one of two programs, the Wilsonton SS Catholic Program, Faith & Life, coordinated by Mrs Terri Byrnes and Wilsonton State School Cooperative/Ecumenical Program, Connect, coordinated by Mrs Jeanette Hare.
Local faith groups represented in the cooperative program are: St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, Wilsonton Uniting Church, Eiser St Baptist Church, New Hope People, Church of Christ Toowoomba North and St John’s Lutheran Church.
Each program is delivered by volunteers from local churches for one half hour each Friday (senior classes between 11.50am and 12.20pm and junior classes from 12.25pm and 12.55pm). All volunteers work from a pre-prepared program and supply the children with a booklet in which they complete activities during the session.
Students are allocated to classes in accordance with the information provided on the completed Parent Notice for Religious Instruction forms (RIS-C1 and RIS-C2), completed on enrolment. This remains operational unless the parent or caregiver informs the school otherwise in writing.
Students who are not participating in Religious Instruction will participate in a literary-based values program, supervised by school staff.
